Mid-Atlantic Renal Coalition (MARC)

Most members who work in outpatient facilities know all the valuable functions of the Mid-Atlantic Renal Coalition (MARC). Some nephrology nurses working acute units may not be familiar with the educational offerings and other services of MARC since they are not automatically added to the mailing list. Now is an excellent time to check them out here on our website. Click on MARC to access the November REMARCS newsletter. If you want to be added to the mailing list for educational programs, please visit http://www.esrdnet5.org/email.asp

NBC4 Health & Fitness Expo on January 10 and 11, 2009

Message from Kitty Richardson, member:

Please consider volunteering at the NKF health screening booth for this annual event. It is a good opportunity to help folks and to participate in the fair. Before or after your shift you can see the displays by other health care providers and fitness enthusiasts. There are cooking demonstrations, exercise programs, lots of give-aways and discount coupons. Dance and sports activity demonstrations are among the favorite attractions.

NKF provides a health history inventory, B/P, thorough blood analysis and urinalysis testing, nutritional advice and physician consultation at the end of the process. This is a wonderful opportunity for members of the D.C. community to get a free health check. You might want to consider mentioning to patients that their family members might want to take advantage of this screening.
NKF expertly coordinates the whole testing and volunteering process.

I plan to metro in for the Saturday morning shift then cruise the exhibits in the afternoon. Consider participating either by coming and bringing family/friends and/or volunteering. For more info. and/or to fill out a volunteer form go to:
